Pudu Robotics has unveiled the PUDU TOMO S robotic lawn mower series, which not only cuts grass but also automatically sharpens its blades. The three variants are designed for lawns ranging from 1500 to 5000 square metres, with sales potentially starting in early spring 2027.

Key points
  • The PUDU TOMO S automatically sharpens its blades with the SharpLoop™ system.
  • Two 636-watt motors drive the blades at speeds of up to 6000 revolutions per minute.
  • Triple-Sense navigation uses LiDAR, artificial intelligence and network RTK.
  • The three variants are designed for lawns ranging from 1500 to 5000 square metres.
  • Sales are scheduled to begin in early spring 2027.

The blades sharpen themselves at the charging station

The central innovation in the PUDU TOMO S series is the SharpLoop™ self-sharpening system. When necessary, the robot automatically sharpens its rotary blades at the charging station, combining mowing, returning, sharpening and starting a new work cycle into a single process.

According to Pudu Robotics, this can reduce the need for regular blade maintenance and replacement, while also cutting down on the manual work required from owners. The company links the solution to a more even and cleaner cut.

The Lift-Cut-Discharge system helps the mower handle tall, dense or wet grass. Two high-torque motors, each rated at 636 watts, drive the blades, which can reach speeds of up to 6000 revolutions per minute. The aerodynamic, high-lift blades raise flattened grass into the cutting area, while the rear discharge channel directs clippings away to reduce accumulation and blockages.

It works close to lawn edges and on steeper terrain

The PUDU TOMO uses its Zero Edge Cutting system to cut close to the edge of the lawn. The offset cutting deck is complemented by side sensing and a responsive side bumper, helping the robot move along walls, trees, flower beds and freely accessible lawn edges. The manufacturer says this can reduce missed strips and the need for manual finishing work.

Rear-wheel steering through 180 degrees, with a zero turning radius, enables tight turns. Different mowing directions and return routes designed along the edges are intended, according to Pudu, to produce a more consistent appearance and fewer visible tracks.

Four-wheel drive is provided by four independent, high-torque hub motors. According to the announcement, the system can operate on slopes of up to 45 degrees. The floating cutting deck follows the contours of the terrain, while the independent suspension helps the machine overcome obstacles of up to 6 centimetres.

LiDAR, artificial intelligence and network RTK

Navigation is handled by Pudu’s Triple-Sense system, which combines 360-degree LiDAR, AI-based vision and network RTK. The company says this enables positioning accuracy down to the centimetre level without a local RTK reference station.

With a single click, the robot can automatically map the boundaries of the lawn and plan a route during its very first pass. According to the announcement, no boundary wires or manual mapping are required.

The series will be available in three variants for lawn areas of 1500 square metres, or 0.37 acres, and 5000 square metres, or 1.24 acres. Sales are scheduled to begin in early spring 2027. Further information on pricing and regional availability will be provided on the PUDU HOME website.

Pudu Robotics is drawing on its experience in commercial robotics as it expands into the consumer market. The company says it has worked with Walmart, Toyota, Marriott and Pizza Hut, among others. According to its own figures, it has shipped more than 130 000 robots to more than 85 countries and regions worldwide and has more than 1900 patent applications.
