Investors allege they were misled
Los Angeles-based Schall, Brown & Schwartz LLP, or SBS, notified Duolingo, Inc. shareholders in a statement on November 4, 2026, about a class action pending against the company. The lawsuit invokes Sections 10(b) and 20(a) of the US Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as well as Rule 10b-5 issued by the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the SEC.
According to the complaint underlying the case, Duolingo made false and misleading statements to the market. The document alleges that the company increased the volume of advertising while knowing this could create user friction that would adversely affect the growth rate of daily active users, or DAU.
Complaint also challenges AI-generated content
The complaint alleges that AI-generated, low-quality content also harmed the Duolingo user experience. The SBS statement says these circumstances made the company's public statements false and materially misleading during the period defined in the lawsuit.
According to the statement, investors suffered losses when the market learned the information about Duolingo set out in the complaint. At this stage, the lawsuit's claims are allegations made in the complaint, and the statement does not describe any final court finding.
Affected shareholders have until December 7 to come forward
The class period runs from May 2, 2025, through February 26, 2026. Affected investors have until December 7, 2026, to seek appointment as lead plaintiff. Appointment as lead plaintiff is not required to share in any potential recovery.
SBS is asking shareholders who suffered losses to contact Brian Schall or David Schwartz. The telephone number provided in the statement is 310-301-3335, and the law firm's address is 2049 Century Park East, Suite 2460, Los Angeles, CA 90067. The firm can also be reached at www.schallfirm.com and [email protected].
The court has not yet certified the class. SBS says that, up to this point, investors are not represented by counsel. Anyone who takes no action may remain in the case as an absent class member. The statement describes SBS as a firm specializing in investor rights and securities class actions, and notes that the communication may constitute attorney advertising in some jurisdictions.
