- The platform processes 127 million MCP tool calls each week.
- Every week, 1.9 million Slack users interact with external agents.
- At Anthropic, 65 percent of code changes are released through Slack.
- Salesforce has 694,000 active Slack channels.
Agents enter workplace channels
Slack was originally created to give an engineering team one place to coordinate coding, logged alerts and communication. According to data published by Salesforce on November 3, the platform has since evolved from a shared interface for human and software collaboration into an execution layer for work carried out by people and AI agents.
Through open standards such as MCP, agents can access data from multiple platforms, including GitHub, Salesforce and Jira, through Slack and perform actions in real time. These actions are known as MCP tool calls. Slack processes 127 million such calls each week, and Salesforce says the volume doubles from quarter to quarter.
Users send 1 billion messages on Slack every day. According to Salesforce data, half of them come from apps and agents.
AI features are spreading rapidly
More than 100,000 customers joined Slack in 2026. The company says Slackbot is the fastest-adopted AI product in Salesforce's history. Every week, 1.9 million users interact with agents from external developers in Slack.
According to Salesforce, nine of the 10 leading frontier AI companies conduct their operations in Slack. These companies' spending on Salesforce products has increased 435 percent year over year.
At Anthropic, Salesforce claims that 65 percent of code changes are released daily through Slack. Slack also said its customers are seeing a 312 percent return on investment, or ROI.
The examples of Vercel and Rochester
Rochester Electronics, which serves demand for semiconductor devices, uses Slack as an operational command center. People and automated workflows work alongside each other at the company. With Slackbot and the reusable Skills features, employees can prepare executive summaries, get ready for customer meetings and analyze sales performance.
The company's own Slack workflows automate routine administrative tasks and display Salesforce notifications. Colin Strother, executive vice president of Rochester Electronics, said Slack removes obstacles that disrupt workflows.
Vercel conducts its entire company operation in Slack. Engineering and go-to-market decisions are made in public channels, while the company uses hundreds of Slack Connect channels to engage with customers and partners. Employees search Slack more than 250,000 times a month, which Salesforce says replaces more than 70,000 hours of meetings annually.
Vercel's inbound sales agent qualifies leads, conducts research and drafts outreach for an employee. As a launch partner for Slack Code, Vercel is also extending the agent into development channels.
Slack also plays a central role in Salesforce's internal operations
There are 694,000 active Slack channels within Salesforce. Eighty-three percent of employees are active Slackbot users each week, while 90 percent of salespeople use Slackbot to update Salesforce.
Based on the figures released, automated actions and AI agents are already part of Slack users' everyday workflows. Communication on the platform is therefore connecting an increasing number of tasks that previously had to be completed in separate systems.
