MSP360 MCP Server connects the MSP360 Managed Backup service with Claude and ChatGPT. Managed service providers can use natural-language requests to check backup status, investigate errors, generate reports and configure computers.

Key points
  • MSP360 MCP Server connects the Managed Backup service with Claude and ChatGPT.
  • Users can check backups and investigate errors through natural-language requests.
  • The system can also manage licenses, backup plans, companies and administrators.
  • Access is based on existing account permissions, and confirmation can be required for each operation.
  • The service is available to every Managed Backup customer at no additional cost.

A single request can replace console navigation

MSP360, which provides backup, remote monitoring and remote access software for managed service providers, announced the launch of MSP360 MCP Server on November 3. The solution connects the MSP360 Managed Backup system with Claude and ChatGPT.

According to the company, providers managing backups for multiple customers have so far needed to use multiple console screens, configure filters and manually compile results for many routine tasks. These tasks can include finding computers that do not have a recent successful backup, or identifying backup plans that reported an error overnight.

The new server links these operations to natural-language requests. Technicians can ask about failed or delayed backup plans, the possible cause of a specific error, and whether the problem originated on the customer’s side or in the MSP360 system. They can also review storage usage against the limits assigned to individual companies.

The system can also make changes

MSP360 MCP Server is not limited to queries. According to the source, technicians can approve pending computers, assign licenses to them, create backup plans, and configure companies and administrators, often as part of a single request.

The system relies on the permissions of the existing Managed Backup account, so the server does not have a separate access model. Authentication takes place on the Management Console sign-in page, meaning account credentials do not need to be shared with the AI assistant.

Users can request confirmation before each operation is carried out, and access can be revoked at any time. According to Anton Zorin, MSP360’s vice president of product and partnerships, technicians can ask backup-related questions in the AI assistant they prefer while staying within the scope of their existing permissions.

Available to every Managed Backup customer

According to an MSP360 announcement, MCP Server has been available to every MSP360 Managed Backup customer since November 3, at no additional cost. A paid Claude or ChatGPT subscription is not required to use it.

The solution works with the desktop and mobile versions of Claude, as well as ChatGPT. MSP360 provides separate setup guides for using Claude and ChatGPT. New users can also start a free Managed Backup trial.

According to MSP360, the announcement means that monitoring backups, investigating errors and handling several administrative settings can require less console navigation. The company was founded in 2011 and provides backup, remote access and IT management solutions to managed service providers and IT departments worldwide.
